Once upon a time, in a distant time and land, there lived a
little girl who eventually grew up (not that far up) to be me. She was
always seated next to a boy in class and actually got along with him.
Recess after lunch would last an hour.. and the cafeteria food was good, served
on real plates and with real glasses. Her big brother would protect her from
the bullies in the courtyard.. Oh no wait.. That's fiction - there
were no bullies after her. Once upon a time...

I cried the whole first day my mother "abandonned" me in school. Well.. I was 3. She said she was coming right back. She tricked me!!!! By this time, I had figured out that you get to do fun things in class like eat modeling clay. Age? 4. I faintly remember them having us copy letters. I don't remember what we wrote but I am sure that it was deeply profound and meaningful. What isn't when you're 5? Congratulations to Madame Gaston for teaching us how to read. I am so glad she did not use "Hooked on Phonics." Isn't it funny how you always remember your first grade teacher? This year is the equivalent of 2nd Grade in the US. I can't find my class picture for CE2. CM1 is the equivalent of 4th grade. This is the year when I first started procrastinating. I would finish my homework during recess and hope the teachers would not find me.
